Clare Rayner

Chronic Pain Specialist
Physiotherapy

Pain is designed to get your attention in order to change your behaviour. Your pain is real and my skill is in unravelling its complexity, understanding your circumstances and enabling you to put strategies in place to be able to prevent, manage, reduce or stop your pain.

ABOUT ME

I am a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 20 years experience and registered with the Health Professional Council (HPC), the Physiotherapy Pain Association (PPA) and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE). Prior to obtaining my physiotherapy degree at the University of Hertfordshire I qualified with a psychology degree at Sussex University and worked in rehabilitation. I have post graduate training in cognitive behavioural therapy and attained a post graduate diploma in non-medical prescribing from Cardiff University.

Over the years I have worked within the NHS and in the private sector and gained a broad base of experience in orthopaedics, rheumatology, sports injuries and elderly rehabilitation which has allowed me to develop and deliver a holistic and thorough approach in the assessment and management of any individual. I have also specialised in providing occupational health physiotherapy to the corporate sector. This includes workplace and vehicle assessments and the development and provision of back care classes and manual handling training to a variety of companies.

In 2016 I became the first physiotherapist in South Wales to work in primary care as a first contact practitioner and with the completion of my post graduate diploma in non-medical prescribing I was able to add a pharmaceutical view to pain management.

I am dedicated to the understanding, prevention and treatment of chronic pain.
